On those days, it begins the campaign for the cultivation of corn, a cereal that has been present in agriculture for thousands of years and it is extremely important in the basic diet of society.
For this reason and on this occasion, we want to share one of our trials about the benefits of biostimulants in corn. Specifically, about the effectiveness of BALANCE® in the growth of the corn crop.
And what does BALANCE® do? Being an auxin-cytokine hormonal complex, it has naturally occurring active phyto-ingredients enriched in nucleotides, amino acids and vitamins. All of these substances stimulate cytokinesis, which facilitates the processes of cell division.
The result is the biostimulant capacity of these Zero Residue products, which increase the quantity and quality of leaves and flowers and promote optimal vegetative growth, without any phytotoxicity.
In trials, such as this one on its effectiveness in increasing olive production and quality, BALANCE® has proven to be a powerful bio activator. In this case, it shows it again on the corn crop treatment by foliar application of BALANCE®.
The experiment of BALANCE® in corn cultivation
In this new trial on the cultivation of corn (variation Asgrow 7573), we evaluated and demonstrated the biological effectiveness of this biostimulant in variables as closely linked to crop performance and product quality as:
- The dry weight of biomass in the final stage of the plants. We collected five plants and dried them on the stove at 60ºC as a method of the dry weight.
- The dry weight of root biomass. We take the root of five plants and dry them on the stove at 60ºC.
- The yield in tons per hectare. We evaluate the weight in grains produced by every 10 plants.
- The weight of 1.000 grains. We collected four samples of 1,000 grains per experimental unit and checked their weight.
We always say, our goal is to develop a sustainable agriculture, without residues, respectful and healthy… but also productive. Also we see Zero Residue Agriculture, to which our line of biostimulants are perfect for, as the solution for future of agriculture.
The trial was conducted between August and November 2019, in Tepalcingo (Morelos). Four treatments with four replications were carried out, comparing three doses of BALANCE® (100, 150 and 200 mL per 100 L of water) and a control without application. Foliar applications were made at flowering, fruit set and grain filling.
This study has been carried out by the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, under the direction of professor-researcher Dr. Hermilo Sánchez.
Outstanding results of the testThe three doses of BALANCE® (100, 150, and 200 mL per 100 L of water)
- Higher biomass and yield in all variables evaluated.
- Better results with the tree doses (100, 150, and 200 mL)
- No phytotoxic effects at any dose.
- Significant increase in dry weight and grain weight.
