This time we are going to talk about the Greencal biostimulant, a macroalgae extract with a powerful growth regulating and activating effect. The use of biostimulants in agriculture is becoming more widespread on the sustainable and residue-free agriculture, which cannot stop using these highly effective and zero-residue natural vitamins
Above all, different qualities of a wide range of algaes, microorganisms and other living things of nature are already used to improve the vital functions of our plants and trees. In this case, we will see how the Greencal biostimulant optimizes the growth of zucchini.
In numerous trials, such as this one biostimulant effectiveness on broccoli, Greencal has already shown extremely high efficacy as a growth regulator. On this case, we would like to explain the effectiveness of Greencal in the cultivation of zucchini, a highly demanded agricultural product and food which can show its significate performance improve thanks to the foliar application of Greencal.
THE GREENCAL TRIAL ON ZUCCHINI
With this new Greencal trial on zucchini (squash, terminator variety) we achieved a plant with more leaves and flowers, thicker stems and stronger roots, more fruit and, of course, larger size.
Always committed to Zero Residue Agriculture, the trials did not show any phytotoxicity.
The trial was carried out between August and October 2019 by the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, under the direction of professor-researcher Dr. Hermilo Sánchez. It consisted of the foliar application of Greencal on the zucchini every 15 days. We compared different doses of the biostimulant in proportions of 250, 275 and 300 mL per 100L of water, plus with the non-application of the product for the control test.
The first application was made after the transplant in vegetative development, the second in pre-flowering and the third during fruit set.
GREENCAL BIOSTIMULANT OPTIMIZES SQUASH (ZUCCHINI) GROWTH

The elements evaluated in this trial were:
- Stem thickness
- Number of fruits per plant
- Number of leaves and flowers per plant
- Root length
- Days to fructification
- Fruit length, diameter and weight
- Performance (tons per hectare)
Outstanding results of the trial
- Higher performance (up to 55.3 Ton/Ha)
- Fewer days to start fruiting
- Increased fruit size (length, diameter and weight)
- Increase in number of leaves, flowers and stem thickness
- Longer and stronger roots
- No phytotoxic effects were observed
