Certifications for Agricultural Inputs: 4 facts that confirm their importance

Certificaciones para insumos agrícolas 4 datos que confirman su importancia
Certifications for agricultural inputs are crucial because they guarantee the safety, quality, and sustainability of the products used in crop production. At MAFA, we work intensively to ensure that our products obtain the most demanding and relevant certifications in the agri-food sector. We understand how important consumer trust is, the need to promote environmentally friendly practices, and, of course, to guarantee that agricultural professionals can access the most demanding markets in terms of quality, safety, and food health standards without difficulty.

Many of MAFA’s biological solutions have obtained well-known and highly demanding certifications such as CAAE, OMRI, and Sohiscert.

In a world with a growing population and therefore increasing food demand, it is essential to ensure that food reaching the market has been produced while respecting biodiversity, in a sustainable manner, and without compromising product quality. The importance of these certifications is mainly based on three key aspects:

They provide Safety and Quality

They guarantee that inputs (fertilizers, biostimulants, probiotics, prebiotics, biocontrol solutions, etc.) are safe for human health and the environment, reducing contamination risks.

In addition, they provide consumers with the confidence they need by ensuring transparency and traceability throughout the production process.

The key to accessing demanding markets

Today, input certifications are practically an essential requirement for exporting or selling in markets around the world.

They therefore represent a guarantee for producers, improving their competitiveness and confirming that their products can access increasingly regulated and demanding markets.

Working efficiently and sustainably

When the products we use to protect or improve crop performance are certified for sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices, we are making efficient use of available resources, minimizing ecological impact, and ensuring long-term viability.

MAFA Certifications

At MAFA, we work to ensure that our products obtain the relevant certifications, always taking into account the requirements imposed by legislation and the market itself.

  • CE Certification (Regulation 2019/1009). Applied to products such as our biostimulant with prebiotic effect, MYCOBROW, allowing commercialization in the 27 countries of the European Union for field crops, woody crops, and horticultural species.
  • OMRI Listed® Certification. Supports products such as the biostimulants AMINON WSP and BALANCE, as well as the recently certified prebiotic PREBIOSTART. This label certifies that they are suitable for ecological and organic agriculture.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Standard. Certifies our quality management system in the design and manufacturing of fertilizers and biostimulants, reflecting our commitment to excellence and sustainability.
  • CAAE Seal: Intended to certify organic production (UNE 142500), present in products such as Aminon, Indumax, Mycobrow, Fixertop PH and Maxiplant.
  • El Sohiscert Seal. For inputs usable in organic agriculture (UNE 142500 and UNE 315500 standards), also certifies various MAFA biological solutions.

4 facts about the importance of Input Certifications

There are many reasons why these types of certifications are important and necessary. Here are four key facts:

1)Mandatory Nutrient Registration in 2026

It is now mandatory to record every application of nutrients or organic matter in the farm logbook, whether on paper or in digital format. Certifications facilitate compliance by ensuring that the inputs used meet legal standards.

2)Guarantee for Export and the Green Deal

Certifications align producers with the European Farm to Fork strategy. In 2026, having certified inputs is essential to access international markets that require full traceability and verified sustainability.

3)Management of Unauthorized Plant Protection Products

The year 2026 marks a turning point with the withdrawal of various unauthorized chemical plant protection products. The use of certified inputs ensures that farmers do not use prohibited products, avoiding sanctions and facilitating the transition toward authorized and registered alternatives.

4) Access to Subsidies and Competitiveness

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) increasingly links financial aid to good practices. Using inputs with environmentally friendly and sustainable production certifications allows agricultural professionals to improve long-term profitability.

By obtaining organic certifications, we ensure adherence to natural and environmentally respectful farming practices, thereby guaranteeing the traceability, safety, and food quality demanded by the market.
